The Carson City Justice/Municipal Courts are open from Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays.
The courthouse is located next to the Carson City Sheriff’s Detention Facility. Parking is free and available off the corner of East Musser and N. Roop Streets.

All misdemeanors that allegedly occur within Carson City’s incorporated city limits are prosecuted in Carson City Municipal Court. All other cases – including misdemeanors that allegedly occur within Carson City’s unincorporated city limits – are prosecuted in Carson City Justice Court.
Note that all felony cases that allegedly occurred anywhere in Carson City are prosecuted in Carson City Justice Court. But if the case fails to resolve by the preliminary hearing, the case will be transferred (“bound over”) to the First Judicial District Court (located on the third floor of the same building).

If you were cited for a traffic violation carrying no more than 4 points and which did not involve an accident, you can get the charge reduced to a non-moving violation by completing an approved traffic safety school course. (You can do Traffic School only once a year.)
DUI arraignments are always held on Wednesdays. And arraignments for all non-DUI/traffic court cases are held on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.

If you hire a Nevada criminal defense attorney to represent you, you can usually skip court as long as your attorney appears on your behalf. But some judges do want defendants to appear anyway, especially in felony cases. So ask your attorney ahead of time if you are required to go to court.
If you do not have an attorney, then you must appear in person no matter what. Failure to appear in court will cause the judge to issue a bench warrant for your arrest.
